Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj: Back in CHITRAKOOT, 1940
Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj returned to his studies in July 1940, when he enrolled himself at Ram Nam Sanskrit Vidyalaya, a Sanskrit college in the town of Chitrakoot, Madhya Pradesh. In 1943, he studied advanced Sanskrit for the degree of Vyakaranacharya in the holy city of Kashi, situated on the banks of the Ganga River in Uttar Pradesh. Later that year he returned to Mahu Chhawani and stayed until 1945. Due to his exceptional ability, Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj completed the equivalent of many years of study in just two and a half years, receiving the following degrees:
SANSKRIT SAHITYA ACHARYA
(Master of Sanskrit Literature) from Calcutta University in 1943
VYAKARANCHARYA
(Degree in Sanskrit Grammar) from Cunes College, Kashi in 1944
AYURVED ACHARYA
(Degree in Ayurved) from Akhil Bharatiya Vidyapeeth, Delhi in 1945
Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj also spent time in the ancient city of Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh where he studied the course for the degree of Jyotishacharya (Astrology). However, the rules of the day did not permit him to appear in two courses simultaneously, and so he was not allowed to sit the final examination. Throughout this entire period, Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj never studied any scripture. He blessed devotees by organising four-day, fifteen-day; one-month, and even six-month akhand (non-stop) sankirtan programmes. There was a constant stream of devotion that distributed divine nectar to all thirsty souls. Exhilarating satsang took place in Mahu Chhawani itself as well as in other places such as Mandaleshwar, Maheshwar (near Narmada River), and Nrisimha Tekri.
In Mahu Chhawani, Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj pursued his studies and organised sankirtan, and sometimes he would go away to perform tapasya. He would chant the mahamantra, hare rama hare krishna while shedding tears incessantly. While conducting the sankirtan he would experience all eight sattvic emotions in ample measure. During the chanting of hari bol, he would begin to dance and become unconscious by the end. His devotees would also experience ecstatic bliss according to the level of their devotional intensity. For many years he used to go from one place to another and conduct sankirtan. Sometimes he would also impart some scriptural knowledge.
Conclusion: Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj's return to Chitrakoot marks a period of intense scholarship and devotion. Despite his earlier intense spiritual experiences in Chitrakoot and Vrindavan, he embarked on a rigorous educational journey.
During this educational endeavor, Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj continued to bless the devotees with his divine presence, organizing and participating in Akhand Sankirtan programs of varying duration. These programs spread the nectar of divine love and satsang to all those who thirsted for spiritual fulfillment.
Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj's devotion was unwavering, and his spiritual experiences, including dance during sankirtan, had a deep impact on his devotees. He also shared scriptural knowledge during his travels, further enriching the spiritual landscape for those fortunate enough to be in his presence. This phase of his life was marked by a harmonious blend of scholarship and devotion, encompassing his extraordinary journey towards spiritual enlightenment.
